These are my favourite pieces of outdoor exercise equipment. If you are setting up a bootcamp, a backyard gym, or just hauling gear to the park, check these out.
This is a very cool system. The TRX is number one on my list for a reason. First, you can hit every major muscle group with this one piece of equipment. This helps to do balanced routines. Secondly, it is easy to set up. You can toss it over a tree branch, chin up bar, soccer net, or pretty much anything. Also, the pulling exercises are great. Pulling, or upper back exercises, are important for posture and balanced shoulder function. See TRX workout videos
This is a classic. Skipping, or jumping rope is a great cardiovascular exercise. You get a little strength training for the arms shoulders and lower leg. They are available in most stores and inexpensive. This is a great piece of outdoor exercise equipment because it really doesn’t need much space.
The main reason I like elastics is that the resistance increases as you increase the stretch on the elastic. So, you get more resistance at the end range of motion. This is opposite to the main exercises on the TRX. Elastics are very versatile. You can do a lot with them and at different levels of resistance.
Nothing fancy here. Dumbbells are a staple and have been for a while. Pretty basic for outdoor exercise equipment. There is a lot you can do with a pair of dumbbells.
Kettlebells are coming back into style. I see them at a lot of outdoor bootcamps. I like them because there are a lot of exercises you can do with just 1 or 2 kettlebells.
